Extinct aquatic mammals were incredible animals that lived in the water long ago! These were not fish but real mammals that had to breathe air. They swam in oceans, rivers, and lakes around the world. Some were huge and powerful, while others were small and playful. Even though they lived in water, they were warm-blooded and fed their babies with milk just like land mammals!
These amazing creatures came in many shapes and sizes! Some had flippers for swimming fast through the ocean. Others had thick blubber to keep warm in cold water. Many had special adaptations that helped them hunt fish and other sea creatures. Sadly, these animals are no longer alive today, but scientists have found their bones and learned how they lived!
